Turning A Negative Into A Positive

Welcome to the final post of the first CKCB Members' Blog Hop of 2015.  If you didn't reach me from fellow Brit Virginia then you might want to start at the beginning with Lisa (the full hop list is here).

My layout was created back at the beginning of the month's crop for the CKCB's #3 Challenge: Turn Negatives Into Positives.  I think that the intention was to use negative shapes from die-cuts or punches, but I've also used an attempt to sabotage a photo last Easter to make a page about No.2 Son.

Jimjams - Layout - One Of A Kind

He's not a great lover of my camera and often pulls strange faces ... but funnily enough, he actually used this one as his FB profile for a while!  Supplies are from my January Counterfeit Kit - including that perfect sticker - he certainly is one of a kind!

Stamped With Heart

Did you spot the Amy Tangerine Stitched Applique heart patterned paper in this month's Kit-to-Copy over at the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog?

I knew I could forge a regular heart pattern ... but how to do it in a time-saving way?

Stamping it out perhaps?  Yes, but hard to get a regular grid ...

What about punched holes for stencilling?
That would work reasonably well:

I marked out 1" lines across a strip of scrap cardstock (starting ½" in from the edge) and punched a heart out at each line, taking care to place the cardstock fully into the punch slot (and lining up the lines with a small pencil mark I'd made on the punch).

Then I used the strip as a stencil and inked out 11 hearts at once!  I was fairly lazy and spaced my lines of hearts quite far apart, but by varying the placement of punched shapes and the strip as a whole you can get a variety of effects.

There are more counterfeiting ideas from my fellow Master Forgers over at the CKCB today.

Goodbye 2014 and Welcome 2015

It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new year
For me
And I'm forging kits

Welcome to my first Counterfeit Kit for the year 2015!

If you've joined me from Stephanie then you'll already know that the CKCB has chosen the December Kit from the Hip Kit Club to forge:

Coincidentally we chose their kit last January too ... must be something they do well around this time of year!  A little too pale pink and frosty for me ... but some pretty hearts, striking chevrons, a little printed text ... I decided to fake it with some warmer colours in amongst the greys:
